Meeting People Is Easy
I like to understand what I'm shown.

loves: Léa Seydoux. Daniel Brühl. Tom Waits. David Lynch. Foreign film. Obscure cinema. Twin Peaks. Tragic soldiers. French women. Creating.
A recent transplant from livejournal, I want to use this space to share the creations I've made (and will make), such as fic and graphics. Such posts will not be locked, but my more personal posts will be.

I certainly don't mind meeting new people, which is why I'm here. So if the above sounds agreeable and we have something in common, leave a comment and let's see where this goes.

Woman Up: Opening up a feminist dialogue - attempt #1

This is the start of something that may just end up being me blabbing on at myself, but even so, I feel it's something that I have to do.

I was (lovingly) prodded into this by my dear [livejournal.com profile] prellung after a series of private discussions we had through messaging one another on tumblr like the mad insomniac women that we are. It took a turn for the interesting when she challenged me with the fact that out of everything we discussed, there was clearly a restraint on my part when it came to giving my own personal views. Rather, those came out in other outlets, be it my writing or subjects I reblog on tumblr, but all in all, I keep an impersonal distance between myself and the content I post.

And you know, I get that. I declare myself, here on my own lj, tumblr, and frequently irl that I am a feminist, because, I am. There are many stances I take and beliefs I hold that I don't find myself discussing enough, especially with other women.

Which has led me to this.

I love a good discussion, and there's a lot I'd love to get into. So why not do it? I decided, every week, to have a discussion post in order to open a feminist dialogue. The topic will change every Saturday and will be focused on feminist/activist issues. It's going to get personal and messy on my part, but I welcome that. This won't be relegated to getting completely scholarly, but to be personal, because, quite frankly, I have a lot of feelings about a lot of things.

So, without further ado:

This week's post is focused on women and body image (something that I and many other women are well-acquainted with).

This post will remain unlocked. You don't have to be on my f-list to comment if you'd like. Anon commenting is also enabled, but comments that are purposely harmful/triggering will be deleted.

This post is NSFW, so head's up.

Icon/graphics miscellany.

Stuff I've made and never posted/just got around now to sharing. Quite a mixed batch: Tom Waits, Chiaki Kuriyama, Thor, Grace Jones, Ben Whishaw, and Michelle Williams and Ryan Gosling.

Not much, but something.

Idk, come on in. I don't mind the company.

Quote #56334 that pertains to my life.

"This is about all the bad days in the world. I used to have some little bad days, and I kept them in a little box. And one day, I threw them out into the yard. 'Oh, it's just a couple little innocent bad days.' Well, we had a big rain. I don't know what it was growing in but I think we used to put eggshells out there and coffee grounds, too. Don't plant your bad days. They grow into weeks. The weeks grow into months. Before you know it you got yourself a bad year. Take it from me. Choke those little bad days. Choke 'em down to nothin'. They're your days. Choke 'em!"

Quote #484895 that pertains to my life.

“Survival is my primary instinct. I’ll do anything. It’s out of my control. It’s stronger than me. It’s an outside force, a voice that says, ‘do this for your life or it will devour you.’”

It's a long way home.

I got plenty to say and I've been holed up with writing and such. I'm sort of terrible at this internet business, aren't I? Put me in front of a computer and I'm as neurotic as a '70s Woody Allen.

Anyhow, I'm dropping this here and I'll be back later. I adore you all ♥

Title: rattle my frame and shatter my ghost
Prompt: #13 - Ghosts
Word count: 100
Characters/pairings: Shosanna Dreyfus/Fredrick Zoller

Disclaimer: Just let me have them, please, QT?

This was far more than a comforting gesture.

Feel free to harass me here, too, in the meantime.

Early morning and my mind is wandering.

“Loneliness does not come from having no people around one, but from being unable to communicate the things that seem important to oneself, or from holding certain views which others find inadmissible.”

I asked that girl which road she was taking

So, I've been yammering before around here that I need to get caught up with LJ and I'm just about there.

KFAD part 7 has become parts 7, 8, and 9 as it's all over 20,000 words. Considering that I've not updated it since April or so, I'm immensely pleased with this progress. Expect to see it posted here next week. That is, if you're expecting it at all.

Sundance is currently showing A Dirty Shame, which is good because I need some John Waters right now.
"Look, I'm not a prude. I'm married to an Italian."

I've updated the look around here yet again, and this one pleases me the most so far. Now with even more David Lynch references crammed into it!

I got a blathering post about my love for horror and zombies in he works for this weekend, too, as I plan on watching Romero's finest in celebration of the season. And so, I leave you with this:

Some truth.

"It is a pity when one, either through force of circumstance or because one is afraid of being ridiculed by others, won't produce and expose to everyone that little spark of something special which is unique to him alone."

And so it goes.

Sharlto Copley

I'm officially in love with Sharlto Copley now, and I think that needs an announcement.

Also, I'm toiling away on part 7 of KFAD, for those of you interested.

Look at them. Oh, how I love them ♥ I should photoshop Sharlto in there somewhere, shouldn't I?

I don't know, I felt like posting.

I've sort of lost my mind.

I'm stuck with writer's block, so aside from photoshopping my favorite French gal and German boy, [livejournal.com profile] nickytheapache and I went ahead and made [livejournal.com profile] capslock_bruhl. Basically, it's capslock ridiculousness for the greatest German actor in modern cinema. So if you'd like, you can join in on it.

Hopefully, I can work through my writer's block later today.
