Quentin is a glorious life-ruiner.

Mel said she doesn't go online because she's afraid of what people say about her. After making IB and releasing her album, she's been declared the most unpopular actress in France right now. Dan needs to comfort her. Because. Of course, if they did both have LJs, they wouldn't have to worry about harsh criticisms (at least if they just friended me /creeper).

It is. I suppose I'm sort of amazed that he was able to stay so private in all that time (I think in terms of the kind of attention Hollywood actors receive, and it'd be damn near impossible for most of them to stay in hiding). She's 23. Idk, I wonder how he was able to meet her, let alone get involved. It just seems sudden, I guess? He has been talking, much like Mel has recently, about how he wants to settle down and have children, too.

I can't stand her either, but I do love their whole love story. It's just so cinematic, of being friends with someone that later, after you've both been through other relationships, you fall in love with. As for Johnny, Winona and the gal in Cry-Baby were my favorite co-stars of his, as I enjoyed them in other films, too. Can't lie, but I find most of Dan's female co-stars to be lacking, barring Mel and Julia Jentsch.

I absolutely love her style. She's enamored with Loki and Darcy from Thor right now, but she's going to keep drawing Sho/Fred (and maybe more Dieter/Bridget). Dan was just beautiful in that uniform. I kind of regret him having to burn the tunic in KFAD, as I have plans for an encounter between them involving that red dress.

Awwww. I wonder why :( She's brilliant both in her acting and singing! And true, but Dan needs some comforting of his own too. I think a father's death kind of beats your career doing downhill, eh? How about they BOTH comfort each other at the SAME TIME so that both sides (actually multiple sides, considering us too) are happy?!

I think it's probably because they're not in the States for most of the time. I don't think the paparazzi in Europe is as crazy as the ones in America.
Fine then, why don't they just go ahead and settle down and make babies even prettier than Augusta Diehl?

It is kind of adorable, I agree. It would be much of a healthier relationship too, when you know the person so well. I totally forgot about Helena Bonham Carter, though! She's the only female co-star of his I love, and that's because I know she's Tim Burton's wife.

Oh, good of you to remind me to read KFAD! I (kind of) abandoned livejournal for a while and I probably missed it, I should check it out as we speak.

It could perhaps be that she has gained more recognition because of what was, in spite of an international cast, an American film production. The film content of IB is also divisive amongst film fans and critics. But, she hosted the opening and closing ceremonies at Cannes, is promoting her album, and her big directorial debut opens in November. So, this year seems good so far for Mel. Dan's keeping busy with Spanish films mostly right now (he should've been at Cannes to see her because I say so, instead of filming with Benicio del Toro), so both of them are doing well with projects right now, which is good. Now all they need to do is get together, comfort each other, and give little Baby Diehl a playmate. A gorgeous, multi-lingual playmate.

That's what I figured. Even the most minor celebrity here will have their daily routine photographed if possible by the paparazzi. They were a bit obnoxious when she filmed in LA with Ewan for The Beginners, and when Goodbye Lenin! premiered in New York, it was probably the most press Dan dealt with at that point in his career. I'm glad that he's been able to have his space with this, I really am.
They need to think of the future of European cinema and get started on creating the next generation. Then I can grow old as a crazy lady and follow their career, too.

It probably really helps to be involved with someone who knows what it's like to have that kind of life and career. Dan's former fiancee worked with him before, too. Aside from her cheating on him and that whole thing falling apart publicly, they certainly seemed to be very enamored with each other. I can't recall, did you see when Tim and Dan were on the Cannes jury together in 2006? They ended up awarding the Palme d'Or to a film Mel was in, actually. His film Salvador premiered there, along with another film of hers (one in which she was nude). So, they were both at Cannes that year and crossed paths film-wise.

Ah, I'm glad to be of inadvertent help! I have other writing projects very much demanding my attention, but I'm making sure to get KFAD finished this year. I'm working on part 10 and will have a character reference post for it, now that the Zoller sisters are finally appearing in the story. I'm excited for the direction it's taking.
