This was the first piece of fiction I had written in years, and so I was extremely careful with getting all of the details correct. I had written all of the first half with Shosanna in the theater, then I set it aside for a couple of weeks, as writing her was difficult enough, but with Fredrick? That was a challenge.
There's just this certain level of restraint between them that I have to keep in mind. He's open about everything with her, btu she cannot be, so there's this tension there that comes out in their interactions together.
I initially wrote this one to be a stand alone fic, to perhaps fit in between what he did not see and the premiere. But after some ecouragement, I continued it to become the kind of Shosanna/Fredrick fic I wanted to read, but no one else would write.
So basically: thank you for your feedback, as Shosanna and Fredrick mean a great deal to me, and to know that I'm able to communicate everything about them to others means a lot. Writing for these two has gotten me back into my own writing, which I cannot be thankful for enough. And of course, I wouldn't have kept with all of this if it weren't for fellow fans enjoying all of this, either.
I certainly don't mean to make anyone cry or break their hearts, but Fredrick just seems to be able to do that (as Shosanna knows well enough).
