Thank you! I just couldn't resist expanding upon it, as it did give me a bit of a challenge. I had an idea before for a Shosanna/Fredrick fic that included Marcel on the sidelines, observing how her desire for revenge and her knowing Fredrick affected their relationship. There was an interview with Melanie, wherein she explained that Shosanna did not know what she was capable of having until she met Fredrick, and that always stuck with me.
I make fun of Marcel frequently because he's damned passive, and right up until the end, he makes it clear that he'd rather not be involved in her plan. But then, I thought of how extremely difficult it was to live through the Occupation, as most people lived it like he did; keeping to themselves and trying to see it through. I still don't like him, but it gave me something new to work with (and now I can continue ignoring him).
