Shosanna/Fredrick picspam.

I screencapped the extended lunch scene from the bonus features on the Inglourious Basterds DVD; it was shot at one angle and includes this scene from the script, wherein Fredrick comes to Shosanna's defense. Now, as I've covered in part one of my analyzation/manifesto, the lunch scene is pivotal as Shosanna realizes her trust in Fredrick and silently reaches out to him once Landa enters; we also see that Fredrick is willing to risk certain punishment by questioning Landa's motives. Here now, is more of Fredrick's complete adoration of her; every longing look, including his defending her and even giving Hellstrom some proper bitch-face. Something to note: QT calls his actors by their character names when filming because he takes his job very seriously.

Again, aside from his wonderful facial expressions, notice how Daniel conveys everything Fredrick feels through his hands. Also notice how he's totally lying when he exclaims, "To hell with the French!":

Oh, Daniel's face. He's so earnest and in to her. And her little smile at the end segues perfectly into her wordless begging him to stay when Landa arrives - she feels comfortable, safe (for lack of a better word).

Each other against the world, kid.

YES. I love his expressions and the way he looks at Shosanna; even when they're setting up the scene, it's just as she had said, that Daniel is a generous actor, who is always there with you in a scene.

Shosanna knows just from their few mints together in this scene that Fredrick will fight for her, even though it's his boss and Landa, both of whom he's intimidated by. He got under her skin when they first met and was further intrigued in the cafe, but it is in this scene that she knows Fredrick's love and intentions for her are genuine; that appeals to her and frightens her. Then of course, it all leads up to the projection booth, wherein Shosanna's feelings are finally realized. Their acting is phenomenal as Fredrick is so open (even when trying to get her to understand his own trauma, which he does so with charm and humor) and Shosanna is closed, yet fighting this internal conflict (after all, he's a big important German War Hero, which is evil by default, right?). Meanwhile, Marcel* continues to whine. Lots.

I haven't seen Camera Angel yet, but I'll gladly screencap it when I do. I also need to screencap Stolz der Nation.

You're welcome! I love all of the other DVD extras, but I love the extended scene the most, as it adds even more to Fredrick and to Shosanna/Fredrick.

ohhh, I love Daniel's facial expressions. And the way Fredrick is so attentive and concerned and the way he keeps looking back and forth. And that last picture beofre Landa comes... ♥♥♥♥♥!

He's so perfect in the scene! I love how she's Fredrick's focus, especially with Goebbels' outburst. It's clear that both he and Landa intimidate Fredrick, and his support and reaching out to Shosanna shows her how he genuine is.

His gesture of comfort and their mutual smiles speak volumes ♥
