Bridget von Hammersmark/Dieter Hellstrom thumbnail

The internet, being as wonderful and weird as it is, brings me into contact with a variety of people. One such person, thanks to tumblr, is delicioustentacles. Aside from being an absolute delight, she is also incredibly talented. Like me, she is very much a fan of Dieter Hellstrom/Bridget von Hammersmark, and has been inspired enough to draw them for our enjoyment.

And now, with her permission, I have posted her fanart for your enjoyment, as well. Full image size is 1100 x 950, so clicky to see Dieter/Bridget in all their glory:

She's also currently doing the 30 Day Inglourious Basterds challenge.

IKR? She is so incredibly talented, but she's a bit shy about sharing her work. So of course, I whine at her. I have talked her into getting an LJ so she can continue to share her fanstuffs, as she's really on a Dieter/Bridget and Sho/Fred kick. Once LJ finally calms down, I'll help her get all set up.

Aren't they? It totally brightened my Sunday, especially since I had to spend part of it at work. There'll be more from her at some point soon, too.

YES.

It's as horrifying as it sounds. I work in a library, and the powers that be would prefer for us to be as open and accessible to the public as possible. Sundays are the worst because it's only four hours, in the middle of the day. People who've never been here before or who want to do major research come in on Sundays (when any other day would be ideal).

Fortunately, my boss knows I hate working them, so he avoids scheduling me for Sundays as much as he possibly can.

Gosh, I hate it when work hours are right in the middle so they eat up the whole day. On a weekend, especially. At least your boss is aware of your preferences :). I've always wanted to try working in a library though!

[identity profile] suspiriorum.livejournal.com 2011-04-12 11:53 pm (UTC)(link)
Absolutely. I far prefer to work a full 8 hour day than to have a few hours jammed in somewhere. At least the Sundays I work are on the same weekends as the Saturdays I work. I end up losing a weekend, but then I get the following weekend (such as this one) all to myself.

My boss is one of the best people I've ever worked with. In his spare time, he's a stage actor and I've found him before in the government documents room memorizing lines to himself. He's a total delight.

I really do enjoy my job, especially in the department I work in, which is Magazines and Special Collections. It encompasses a lot, with genealogy, government documents, bound magazines, microfilm, and the local history room. When things are quiet (which happens quite a bit) I end up reading the copies we have of Photoplay from the silent film era and such.

[identity profile] precluded.livejournal.com 2011-04-12 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
It's a fair payoff. Enjoy your upcoming weekend. Write, write, write! :D

Aww, he sounds wonderful.

That's really interesting. You wouldn't run out of things to read/watch! Is it like a huge library or like a smaller community one? (I'm nosy)

I plan on it! I am so stupidly excited to write. It really is my idea of a good time, because I'm an exciting person like that.

He really is. And whenever necessary, he can quote Futurama at you.

It's really amazing that there's just so much history available, whenever I want to look at it. I spent time at work this past Saturday reading Life magazines from 1960 and the presidential election (they seemed to be in support of Nixon).

Go ahead and be nosy! I could ramble on about anything if given the chance. It's a huge library, as it's the main library located in the city. There's four floors in total, counting the storage floor below my department (it's considered to be the basement level to the public). It's almost unfortunate in way, as patrons aren't aware of everything the library has, that they could easily access if only they knew and asked.

kajsdha I THINK IT'S EXCITING!

He sounds perfect already. Stanning.

It's interesting to note if and how they retracted their stance later on lol

Oh wow :D How long have you been working there?
That's a shame. Libraries are just like museums, they should take the time to thoroughly explore~

GOOD, BECAUSE SOME OF IT I'M DUMPING HERE. I don't think I've ever felt so creatively fulfilled, just to get all sappy and weird here.

He is. All of my co-workers are about as awesome, too. I used to have posts every once and while about them. Basically, I've never worked anywhere else where I could make fisting jokes with the people I work with.

The absolute topper of it all was an article comparing the fashion styles of Pat Nixon and Jackie Kennedy. There Jackie is, in now iconic outfits, compared to Pat who was only really remembered for her alcoholism (I'd be the same if I married Nixon).

This October will mark my seventh year there, and it really doesn't feel like it's been that long. It totally is. For instance, the storage basement has all of the books and media that aren't in as high circulation as others are, but they can still be checked out; patrons just have to request them. Recently, I took much enjoyment in reading the official film book on Tim Burton's Batman. Young, skinny Tim photographed on set with a blurb about how he was the only director "with it" enough to make the Batman film brought me a certain level of joy.

This is so beautiful, gah! I also hope she gets an LJ and continues to share her gorgeous works.

She's so wonderfully talented, and I know she's going to continue to draw more Dieter/Bridget (and Shosanna/Fredrick). I do believe I'm successfully talked her into getting an LJ so she can post her work. The IB fandom could really use it, I think.

Say hi to your friend for me and let her know that this is super nice :) Also, thanks to you both for helping keep the IB fandom alive!

Oh, I definitely will! She's been sort of surprised already by the feedback for it, when she really shouldn't be, because she's very, very talented (she had been a bit shy about sharing this).

You're welcome! This is one of the few fandoms I've ever really been involved in and I refuse to let go of it!

[identity profile] deloused-drunk.livejournal.com 2011-04-13 05:29 am (UTC)(link)
Tell her she shouldn't be. Fanart this good doesn't come around too often! ...saaaaay, do you know if she has a DeviantART account? I'd like to see more of her stuff, if I could :)

Me too! I've only really been invested in a handful of fandoms since I started nerding (almost ten years ago, damn I'm old), and IB has really stuck with me - regardless of the fact that it's nearly dead nowadays.

OMG

OMG

OMG

So, she was peeking at this post, and first, she wanted to thank you for your comments, and second, she recognizes you! She had a DA but recently deleted it, but she knows you from there. She wants me to tell you that she was alligator (hopefully that rings a bell!).
I talked her into getting an LJ, so I'm sure we'll hear from her soon.

I have a weird attachment to the corner of the IB fandom I reside in. I was in a bit of a rut creatively when the film came out, and I ended up rediscovering my love of writing (I never wrote fanfic until IB), which led me to meeting wonderful, wonderful people and to pursue writing original stories. I have a fic that's a work in progress, so I have this mindset of, "IT'S NOT OVER UNTIL I SAY IT'S OVER." Caps and everything!

[identity profile] deloused-drunk.livejournal.com 2011-04-14 02:57 pm (UTC)(link)
AAAAAAH YES! You know, I thought the style was rather familiar, actually... heh. Hey, tell her hi from me and ask her why she deleted her DA account. And also, to contact me here if she has LJ (cuz I miss her) :D

That is fantastic! I had about the same thing, actually... being in a rut, I mean (I've been writing fic since I was like 15 or something). Inglourious Basterds SHOULD inspire fiction, though ^^ It's SOOOOOOOOOO GOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOD.

It's such a small world internet, isn't it?

I let her know, and she says hello! However, her reasons for deleting her DA have yet to be divulged. I think she's keeping that to herself in the meantime. Her spring break starts next week, and she said she'll think up an LJ name and get going on that, along with creating more fanart (she's currently making naked Sims of August and Diane).

It so is. I kind of don't mind that the fandom is basically dead, except for the few of us. Idk, I do like my peace and quiet, and I've still managed to find fellow fans, which is quite nice. You know, I didn't properly discover what exactly fandom was until I went snooping for dirty Labyrinth fanfic when my family first installed AOL dial-up. And little did I know, I was already into RPF by shipping Cameron Diaz and Ewan McGregor when A Life Less Ordinary came out. /ramble
I've always had story ideas in my head from films and such, but I never, ever compelled to actually write something out until IB. After everything it's led me to, I'm glad I did.
