As a fan of the first two Terminator films, I was not disappointed. There are wonderful references and nods to the franchise (Guns n' Roses' You Could Be Mine was used expertly in one scene) and the cast were all fantastic. Anton, Moon Bloodgood and Sam Worthington were the stand-outs; Christian Bale was just as good, but I became particularly attached to the characters of Kyle, Blair, and Marcus. I even gasped out loud at parts, which I hardly ever do in a theater (that's usually reserved for the '70s Italian films I watch in the comfort of my home). And I don't want to spoil anything for you, but I have to blurt out, OMGLINDAHAMILTON.
I do think that a sitcom starring Anton and Christian titled My Teen Dad would be great.
I am glad to hear that you liked it! I am a huge fan of the first two films too. I've been looking forward to this one, but the bad reviews are making me nervous. However, my overwhelming love of Kyle Reese (and Anton!) pretty much guarantees that I will enjoy it. And I'm psyched to hear about Linda!!
Um...so, I capslocked about it in my last entry, but have you seen the Sarah Connor Chronicles? Seriously, if you're a Terminator fan you've got to watch it. Aside from having John and Sarah and a whole lotta robots, it's a damn good drama with tight writing and wonderful acting.
I was prepared to not Terminator Salvation from the day they announced its production, particularly because they had someone who was clearly not Michael Biehn playing a young Michael Biehn. I eventually warmed to the idea because it sought to continue the storyline from Terminator 2 and Christian Bale as an adult John Connor is great casting.
The very opening scene felt a little off to me but once the film shifted into that beautifully stark, scorched-earth landscape I was sold. I need to make a ramble-y post about this.
I have yet to see The Sarah Connor Chronicles, but since the cancellation was announced (sorry about that!), I've been a bit intrigued. I could never keep up with more than one series as getting so emotionally involved with Battlestar Galactica was enough.
