What appealed to me was that she had a layout in Maxim, but she was dressed like a cross between Grace Jones and Wendy O. Williams. She was so forward and blunt in the interview by saying that she wasn't going to fit the social norm of what men found attractive, but challenge that so they broaden their narrow perception of what an attractive woman is.
It reminds me of what a fan said about Grace Jones (whom I love), "Grace Jones doesn't scare men, Grace Jones scares idiots." I appreciate that Lady GaGa is the same way.
Nice... I'm tempted to seek out that issue of Maxim, but I probably won't. I live with my parents and it would be a little awkward if they were to find an issue of Maxim among my possessions.
"Grace Jones doesn't scare men, Grace Jones scares idiots."
That's perfect. And refreshing. I'm so incredibly sick of people thinking that if a woman is being sexual then she must be a slut. The world needs more women like Grace Jones and Lady Gaga.
And you've made me want to watch A View to a Kill again. :)
I agree with you so very much! We need more women in the public eye who are willing to be themselves, even if it's outside of societal norms of how women are expected (though forced would be more apt) to be.
I ♥ A View to a Kill! And I have to say that Dolph Lundgren forever has my admiration for having been engaged to Grace; even to this day, he still thinks highly of her.
Everyone wants me to show my vagina to the world all the time. And the truth is, I don't have to.
Poignant. Blunt. To the point. I think she is amazing and inspiring. I'm probably not going to start acting like her anytime soon, but it's nice to know that I could if I wanted to.
Definitely my favourite Bond movie. Grace Jones, Christopher Walken, Roger Moore.. what more could one want?
And now I'm probably going to spend a good portion of this evening watching Lady Gaga music videos... excellent.

I loved that she said, "I'm not trying to make your dick hard the way other girls are. i'm trying to teach your dick to get hard when it looks at other things."
I am so very tired of people comparing her to Madonna. Now, I don't care much for Madonna these days and I find her admirable, but Lady GaGa is inspired by the likes of Grace Jones and David Bowie and it's completely evident to anyone that's actually paying attention. Like Bowie and Jones, GaGa is challenging our perceptions of sexuality and gender; arousing the general male populace and fitting societal norms is of no concern to her. I don't know how much sense I'm making, but to me, Jones, Bowie, and GaGa are on a completely level than just disco, glam, and pop; they're something nearly alien and exciting, yet still accessible.
Perhaps I'm just rambling now, but I fully approve of Lady GaGa and those like her, past and present.
Definitely my favourite Bond movie. Grace Jones, Christopher Walken, Roger Moore.. what more could one want? Don't forget Duran Duran ♥
And now I'm probably going to spend a good portion of this evening watching Lady Gaga music videos... excellent. Most excellent indeed!
I guess people think that blonde + avant-garde = Madonna... which is a shame. Not to say that Madonna isn't awesome, but there are lots of different ways to be blonde and avant-garde. Am I making sense? I hope so... because I think I might be rambling now. :P
Whatever the case.. I approve of Lady GaGa and those like her too!
YES! How could I forget Duran Duran, or the neon title sequence? Ahh.. I need to start watching Bond movies again.
