I pride myself on fap-worthy icons, which are my contributions to bettering the internet.

Also, I agree with you.

And I also need to photoshop Stolz Der Nation on one of Ozy's monitors.
[identity profile] greenpixiehair.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 12:31 am (UTC)

You do them so well. The internet is indeed a much better place.

Haha, yes! But remember, Ozy hates Nazi's. Though knowing him he'd have all their propaganda films as a 'reminder of what humanity is capable of' and because 'it is the legacy I came from' blah di blah blah.

I love my angsty Ozy.

I figured that in his youth, Adrian had a harmless crush on Fredrick (though we all know the man for Adrian is Archie). It lingers on, but he makes certain to berate himself later after fapping.

Also, I like to pretend that Adrian's real dad is Hugo Stiglitz.

WHAT. THE. FUCK.

THAT IS SO AWESOME. JUST. UGH.

HOW DID YOU EVEN.

Ha! That's about the same reaction I get from other Adrian fans!

I'm complete admiration of Hugo's bitchface, as it is the ultimate bitchface, even better than Adrian's. Then I stopped to think, "What if that's because Hugo is ACTUALLY ADRIAN'S FATHER?!"

And so it stuck and I choose to believe it.
[identity profile] greenpixiehair.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 01:03 am (UTC)

I love it. The true test of parenthood? Not DNA, no sir, it's the test of the BITCHFACE. And Hugo does have a world-destroyingly good bitchface. And the best gun, too.

Utivich is so the Dan of the group. Adorkable. Or as close as a Basterd can be to adorkable. Seriously though, that could work, though really if Stigliz killed SS I'm not sure his wife and child would have been left alone... unless the kid was illegitimate and secret... or something...

Quick, stop me from overthinking things.

http://suspiriorum.livejournal.com/: Welcome to your life[identity profile] suspiriorum.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 01:21 am (UTC)
So does that make Donny the Laurie? And Aldo is Dr. Manhattan!

I can see Adrian as both illegitimate and secret; he was born in 1939, so perhaps before his birth, Hugo sent her off to America so Adrian could be born as an American citizen. And he made certain to have them looked after by a man with the last name of Veidt?

For extra trivial fun, Donny Donowitz is the father of film producer Lee Donowitz, from True Romance. Lee produced the war epic, Coming Home In A Body-bag.
Now let your brain wander!
[identity profile] greenpixiehair.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 01:30 am (UTC)

Ohhh... yes... but I was thinking Donny could be Rorschach. Cos, come on. Baseball bat to the head. And he and Utivich have their bromantic ways. But Aldo is Manhatten ten times over. Maybe... Wicki could be Laurie? IDK.

That makes sense. And either Hugo sent her off or he died and she married someone called Veidt. It makes sense. Oh god. Look what you've done to me.

I did actually know that... I can't remember why, but someone linked me to the Tarantino Files page on Donny. And now I can't stop thinking that Utivich and/or Aldo went back and looked after the kid. Maybe brought back Daddy's dog tags (because you know Donny gave them to Utivich after they had you-damn-martyr!sex the night before the cinema.)

Your OTP for Basterds is Shosanna/Frederick, isn't it?
http://suspiriorum.livejournal.com/: Now I see a face in your eyes[identity profile] suspiriorum.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 01:51 am (UTC)
Rorschach works better for Donny and it's the first time Rorschach would ever be sexy. He makes no sense as Laurie, but I like the thought of Hellstrom in the black and yellow latex (with the King Kong card stuck to his forehead).

I do awful things to other people, but unintentionally. And because Adrian never really had a dad, he needs a nice man like Dan to dominate in his life.

Utivich would totally bring back Donny's dog tags (yes to you-damn-martyr!sex, with some omg-you're-going-to-die!spooning after) and he and Aldo would be Lee's crazy uncles, with trips to the zoo and too much ice cream.

Yes indeedy, Shosanna/Fredrick are my OTP ♥ I even made a community for them so I can over there and spazz out without having all of it clog up my LJ. It's Tarantino's fault as he loves them too and keeps validating me by calling the projection booth scene romantic and constantly referring them to as Romeo and Juliet.
[identity profile] greenpixiehair.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 02:01 am (UTC)

Sexy Rorscharch. Oh, that's a creepy thought. You're right, Wicki makes no sense, I was grasping at straws. And as much as I'm behind you on the Hellstrom thing... SEXY LEATHER YES PLZ... he's too badass for Laurie (can you tell I don't like her very much?) she's more a... a... a Von Hammersmark. Or something.

Oh, bb Adrian. And Dan can join in the daddy issues because really, his dad was 'disappointed' in him, and Adrian isn't... and is very authoritative...

Adrian/Dan is a beautiful thing, but I can't help be hampered by the idea that Dan is oblivious and Adrian thinks Dan is too precious to go anywhere near (he knows he destroys anything he brings close)

Fuck my angst-whoriness.

he and Aldo would be Lee's crazy uncles, with trips to the zoo and too much ice cream.
That's some dubious moral lessons form an early age :D But Utivich would be affectionate enough to make up for Aldo's... lunacy. Actually, I think Aldo would be good with kids. He's so protective of his boys.

Frederick and Shosanna's chemistry was through the roof, but I keep thinking of how lovely Marcel was. I'm not sure I'd give up Marcel for Frederick. But yes, I think they are Romeo and Juliet (The Grown Up Edition)

Bridget is too awesome to be filmLaurie (I'm more fond of novel Laurie), as she thought up Operation Kino, wasn't afraid of mouthing off to Aldo and even her leg cast was high-heeled. QT should've left in her line from the script, where she tells Landa, "I'll resist you sons of bitches until my dying breath!"

That is a beautiful, honest way to view Dan/Adrian, actually. It's like a conversation I had with a Fredrick/Shosanna fan last night; I love a good tragedy, but the optimist in me always interjects with the possibility that they could live happily-ever-after.

Lee Donowitz grew up to have quite the cocaine habit, but I can see Little Man being a good father figure. Aldo's a good guy, too. Tarantino talked about how Aldo also fought against the KKK before enlisting and it's because of his Native American heritage that he can't stand to see others bullied and oppressed.

Marcel was a good man, but I couldn't help but notice that Shosanna was still so guarded and then here comes a sweet little Germann soldier who ends up deeply effecting her.
I'm going to plunk this down here: http://community.livejournal.com/un_amico/7259.html
Damn you, Tarantino!
[identity profile] greenpixiehair.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 02:47 am (UTC)

Dan/Adrian is made of tragedy, just by virtue of the two people involved. But I've always thought they're sort of worshipful of each other, in different ways. Like Adrian represents to Dan the power and strength to define yourself and a role in the world fighting for good, and Dan represents to Adrian all the intangible, flawed, fleeting beauty of humanity and reminds him in his utilitarian rampages that there is something to be said for the induvidual.

Bridget was kickass. I wish she'd had that line. And Little Man would be a great father (or big brother figure? He's quite young, and IDK how old Lee would be.) Aldo is, I think, a fucking homicidal lunatic, but with applaudable politics.

Can I just say that the layout for that community is gorgeous? It really, really is. And I see everything you point out in that scene - for QT, nothing says I love you like a bullet in the back. Seriously, his romances always involve people trying to kill each other and this one is no different.

(But to be fair, we only see Marcel and Shosanna together after the Nazis have marched in and she's decided to go kamikaze. She's on a personal vendetta he doesn't fully understand, so it's no wonder they're a bit distant. But he goes behind that screen for her and lights that cigarette and that's love too.)

Long comment is long. I am so wanky. Sorry.
http://suspiriorum.livejournal.com/: Your menstruating heart[identity profile] suspiriorum.livejournal.com on October 5th, 2009 04:58 am (UTC)
Aw, be as wanky as you'd like ♥

You just perfectly summed up Dan/Adrian. With Adrian, I think he's used to being adored simply because of the perfect image he projects to the public; but Dan, aside from being a genius inventor/tinkerer, is a regular guy who has essentially the same beliefs as Adrian when comes to being one of the Watchmen. To be around such a genuine, ordinary man probably keeps Adrian grounded (or at the very least, intrigues him).

I find some similarities with Shosanna/Fredrick; in the script, he shares personal details with her that he most likely wouldn't have told anyone else. And why would anyone else care, since they love him for being a big important war hero and film star? Shosanna learns of who Fredrick is and is disturbed by him being lauded for killing, which he can agree with (I see him as just wanting to survive a nearly impossible situation he's in). And as the script had shown (and Daniel expressed wordlessly), Fredrick likes that about Shosanna; she makes him feel grounded and human.

Tarantino did say that them shooting each other was them consummating their relationship. You could say that his love stories end like any other, with the pair walking off into the sunset together, but just by unconventional means.

I don't mean to discount Marcel in any way, he just doesn't hold my interest as Fredrick does with Shosanna. But yes, Marcel did demonstrate his love for Shosanna: He gave her his full cooperation and was willing to sacrifice himself for her (I myself believe that Marcel and Shosanna didn't expect to leave the theater alive; maybe not entirely a kamikaze mission, but they certainly knew there was a greater chance they'd die that night than survive it).

On a lighter note, I bet Utivich, Aldo, and Lee sent pretty postcards with smartass messages written on them to Landa (who probably spent the rest of his life in seclusion).

Edit to add: The background of [livejournal.com profile] un_amico is '70s fabric wallpaper. I love going to wallpaperfromthe70s.com for backgrounds.

No, you just perfectly summed up Dan/Adrian. :D I think those two could live together for a million years and never stop surprising and fascinating each other.

You're right. And it's ironic, huh, that the Jewish girl is the only one who sees him as "more than a uniform", as he puts it. More than a hero, anyway. And QT has them consummate the epic love the best way he knows how.

Marcel isn't as interesting, it's totally true. He's the 'pretty and faithful wife of the grassroots rebel hero' type role and that's a bit of a thankless task. And I'm positive they both meant to die. They locked themselves in. Marcel was standing right next to the explosives.

Imagine the backstreet bullies ganging up on fatherless Lee, only to come face to face with Aldo grinning like a loon and Utivich very loudly sharpening his knife. "Now kid, did I ever show you what we used to do over in France? Your dad was never any good at it, but that's because of what he did to the skulls first..." and they're gone before he even finishes speaking.

I am going to haunt that website now. Hello, favourites tab.

Adrian would discover a plethora of gadgets purely by accident just because he wanted to tidy up Dan's house. And then Dan would discover Adrian's BOYS folder. And find himself in it. Neither would be mad at each other; instead, they'd have a good laugh (which would then lead to other things).

You're right. And it's ironic, huh, that the Jewish girl is the only one who sees him as "more than a uniform", as he puts it. More than a hero, anyway. And QT has them consummate the epic love the best way he knows how.
YES YES YES. I LOVE IT ALL SO MUCH. *Ahem*

Marcel isn't as interesting, it's totally true. He's the 'pretty and faithful wife of the grassroots rebel hero' type role and that's a bit of a thankless task. And I'm positive they both meant to die. They locked themselves in. Marcel was standing right next to the explosives.
YES TO THIS, TOO. Marcel and Shosanna is like in Kill Bill, with the Bride and her future husband and all of her wonderful friends. You're happy for her, but what's most intriguing is her relationship with Bill.

Something I wonder about, is how well would Shosanna function if she survived Operation Kino and the end of the war overnight? And not only Shosanna, but Fredrick too; I believe he has to suffer from sort of PTSD (and Zoller was based off of Audie Murphy, after all) . They're both so damaged that perhaps dying was the most merciful option? But then, when such thoughts creep in, I shush that nonsense right up.

As for that Utivich, Aldo, and Lee scenario? I LOVE IT. WE COULD ALL USE SOME LITTLE MAN AND ALDO IN OUR LIVES WHEN THE GOING GETS ROUGH.

And if I had a fancy house, I would cover all of the walls with '70s fabric wallpaper. OMG, especially with the shiny, reflective kind. I found a blog of real estate nightmares and one of the houses was so '70s! The bathroom had pink and gold relfective wallpaper and a big, pink bathtub and I wanted to live there so bad.
