Stuff; learning a foreign language, reading, and foreign films.
[livejournal.com profile] larkworth recommended Whip It to me, which I think would make a fine double-feature with Zombieland (which I have also yet to see).

In the meantime, I'm downloading:

and

I ♥ Mélanie Laurent, the only downside is the torrent has no english subtitles.

Speaking of French, I have experience with the language, having taken French classes for nearly a year in elementary school, along with more of it in junior high, then taking French all through high school. I can notice translation errors in subtitles and scan articles and get the gist of it, but I really would like to become as fluent as possible and not let all those years of learning the language go to waste. There are many learning programs available, but I think I'll get back on track with this: http://www.smartfrench.com/Products.php
On top of all of this, I've been writing more Shosanna/Fredrick nonsense which I plan in posting this week. I also have my phobia piece for the November 13 art show and there's a pile of books I want to get to reading, but I've been stuck on Brideshead Revisited. Frankly, I'm not fond of Evelyn Waugh's writing style (the same issue my father has with him), but I adore Sebastian Flyte and Anthony Blanche, as Waugh's style beautifully suits them. However, I want to read Rilke, Pragmatism: A Reader, The Bhagavad Gita, and bell hooks. I've always enjoyed reading non-fiction, and with my fictional-character quota currently filled by those tragic kids from Inglourious Basterds, I'm going back to tackle my pile of books and put Sebastian on hold, for now.

I feel like a worthwhile member of society when I have piles of things to do/occupy me.

Mélanie is SO GOOD in that film, it's no wonder she got the César for it! There are definitely English subs for it floating around online, though they are certainly not perfect (even I can tell!). Let me know if you need help finding some.

Looking forward to more Shoshanna/Fredrick from you!

Her César speech was so wonderful and I have no doubt that she deserved the award. If I have any issues locating subs, I'll gladly bother you for help!

Shosanna/Fredrick are so much fun to write. I got all angsty with them again, but I'm also letting them have some fun, too. I look forward to posting it so you can read it ♥
