PEOPLE LIKE ME ON THE INTERNET.
So it seems that [livejournal.com profile] piecesofalice and I were able to restore some faith in fanmixes, as we both got a wonderful mention on a blog concerning our contributions to Shosanna/Fredrick (as well as winning me over immediately by linking to Tarantino's beautiful Romeo and Juliet quote about them). The post also included a link to fantastic, Jack Kirby-style, fictional comic book covers.

Oh, my ego ♥

Check out the post HERE, as well as the rest of his blog, while you're at it.

Onto the covers! These were done as a what-if? scenario, if Tarantino's film were released in the 1970s, with each chapter adapted into a comic book by Jack Kirby. Simply put, these are AMAZING. They look like something I'd discover at a local flea market, Trader's World and then my friends would look at me funny as I'd work myself up in a tizzy over them:

I WANT TO MARRY THIS ONE:

My only qualm with this one is that it's Fredrick, not Frederick. I also like how apprehensive Shosanna appears to be. And Francesca's poodle is quite pleased:

THIS ONE IS AWESOME, TOO. BAR GLOBE!:

Also, Daniel of TEN THINGS I LEARNT FROM THIS WEEK'S KERRANG, hello, if you're reading this.

Oh my god, those comics are amazing. I would so read those.

YES. It's a shame they're not real. The artist who drew these should be commissioned to make them a reality.

I HADN'T SEEN THE FASSY ONE

Also: Shosanna is auditioning to replace the construction worker from The Village People with her hard hat, y/y?

(You saw these, yeah?)

ARCHIE IS SO GODDAMN BRITISH ON THAT COVER, I LOVE IT. AND BRIDGET AND DIETER! I MIGHT ICON THEM ALL AS A DYSFUNCTIONAL OT3.

Y. She and Freddy are the newest members of the Village People: Hot Jewish Theater Proprietor and German War Hero.

YOU ONLY LIKE FREDRICK BECAUSE DANIEL'S PRETTY. HE'S WORSE THAN HITLER, BUT LET'S GO AHEAD AND LUST OVER LANDA.

I did see those! I can't afford $95.00 for a poster, though, sadly. Besides, he left the T off of Laurent.

OMG I MADE AN ICON OF SHO/FRED'S FUTURISTIC MOD COUNTERPARTS.
[identity profile] piecesofalice.livejournal.com on January 29th, 2010 01:00 pm (UTC)
Noooo Archie/Bridget are amazing, let it be an OT3 in the sense Dieter creeps in the window with a camera, then pretends to be embarrassed when he gets the photos developed but really he loves the fact the developer probably thinks he's a creeper.

SCUSE YOU I LOVE FREDRICK BECAUSE HE'S A BASTARD AND ALL GIRLS LOVE NAZI BASTARDS DON'T YOU KNOW?

THAT ICON

IT'S AMAZING I CAN'T EVEN ARTICULATE YOUR BRILLANCE KNOWS NO BOUNDS YOU SHOULD TOTALLY WRITE THAT FIC I'D LOVE IT IT'S MY BIRTHDAY SOON

http://suspiriorum.livejournal.com/: Falling over you is the news of the day[identity profile] suspiriorum.livejournal.com on January 29th, 2010 01:19 pm (UTC)
Oh, I know that. Also, I approve of that scenario SO MUCH.

FREDRICK IS DIFFERENT BECAUSE HE WAS TOO SWEET AND INNOCENT AND DIDN'T MURDER ENOUGH FAMILIES AND HE DOESN'T CREEPILY LEER AT ACTRESSES AND HE WEARS NO NAZI INSGINIA. THEREFORE, HE'S A TERRIBLE PERSON.

I KNEW YOU'D APROVE OF IT.

WHICH FIC? FREDRICK-AS-STEVEN PRIVILEGE FIC?

[identity profile] emailitin.livejournal.com on January 31st, 2010 06:10 pm (UTC)
Why, thank you. Do you know if they come in a super high-res somewhere? Or are in fact available as a decent sized print?
http://suspiriorum.livejournal.com/: A moment out of time[identity profile] suspiriorum.livejournal.com on February 1st, 2010 02:38 am (UTC)
You're quite welcome. Unfortunately, I couldn't find any high-res. I do know that they were originally posted by aintitcoolnews.com's Harry Knowles, but he gave no further information: http://twitpic.com/pijbg

Congrats on being mentioned in a blog!! You deserve it. :D

Those comic book covers are awesome. The last one is my favorite. :)

Thank you! I like seeing that my enthusiasm for these wonderful characters can reach to other corners of the internet.

I love the colors and details! They work beautifully as both a tribute to the film and to Jack Kirby; I especially love how Shosanna and Bridget are drawn in his style.

I SHOULDN'T BE HERE AT WORK. I SHOULD BE AT HOME WATCHING SUPERNATURAL AND PLOTTING CRACKFIC WHEREIN THEY ALL TRAVEL BACK IN TIME AND FIGHT NAZIS.
[identity profile] alicederanged.livejournal.com on January 30th, 2010 02:31 pm (UTC)

NOTHING TOO SPOILERY. JUST LULZ. DEAN FINDS OUT THAT CASTIEL IS A VIRGIN, AND THEN TAKES HIM TO A WHOREHOUSE TO GET DEFLOWERED LOLOL

AND YOU SHOULD TTLY WRITE THAT. PLUS, CASTIEL HAS THE ABILITY TO TRAVEL THROUGH TIME (AND IT'S GOING TO BE SHOWN IN AN UPCOMING EPISODE TOO BTW). THOUGH IT TAKES A LOT OUT OF HIM. POOR BB. D: D: D:

I NEED TO WATCH THIS SHOW AND I NEED TO MAKE TIME FOR IT. BRB, BEING A HERMIT.

I SO HAVE TO WRITE THAT FIC, TOO. FIRST, I HAVE RIDICULOUS RPF AND SRS BUSINESS FIC TO GET TO.

These comic covers are so f-cking awesome, I'm overwhelmed with awe. I hope QT will give us a real Inglorious Bastards graphic novel; the Jack Kirby version is cool but I also think Tim Sale style would look amazing for IB.
http://suspiriorum.livejournal.com/: FASSY'S LIVER IS IN JEOPARDY[identity profile] suspiriorum.livejournal.com on February 5th, 2010 01:55 am (UTC)
That would be awesome, but there is a graphic novel in the works (link may be NSFW): http://www.playboy.com/articles/inglourious-basterds/index.html

Unfortunately, the art is a bit underwhelming.

They really did! Aldo has such great personality to his face; the perfect kind of face for outrageous '70s comic books.

Hi, it's Daniel here. I'm so pleased that you found about the mix! Seriously, the two F/S mixes are on a helluva lot in my house.

This Week's Kerrang has kind of died a slow death (as has my LJ, I really only come back online to, well, look for some of your fanfiction), but if you're interested, I've got a Tumblr now. Cheers!

Hi!

I'm glad you're enjoying them, as Inglourious Basterds is the first fandom I've ever really gotten so involved in, and it's the first time in quite a while that [livejournal.com profile] piecesofalice has cared about a couple of characters such as Shosanna and Fredrick.

Things have been a bit slow around here on the fan fiction front, but I plan on updating King For A Day this weekend.

Thanks for the link to your tumblr!
