Fanmix: We Cross Into Oblivion; Bridget/Dieter

I have this kind of backstory worked out in my head between Bridget and Dieter, based off of their interactions in the film (I shamelessly enjoy his leering at her), and considering the fact that she was a beloved actress and icon to Tarantino's fictional Germany, I imagine she represented quite a bit for the average citizen and Nazi alike. I imagine there's a power struggle between the two, with the scales always tipped in Bridget's favor (which, I think, he doesn't entirely mind). This selection of songs, I suppose, reflects that.

But, regardless of all of that, as long as you dig Bridget/Dieter, then hopefully, you'll dig this fanmix. Comments are nice, but above all, enjoy!

01. David Bowie - The Pretty Things Are Going To Hell (Stigmata film version)

I found the secrets, I found gold
I find you out before you grow old

02. Sneaker Pimps - Velvet Divorce

No ordinary sin
This perfect working order
I'd rather sink than swim
If I can't walk on water

03. Iamx - Kiss And Swallow

I can hold you down by candlelight
With indifference
Let the comfort start
I love you on your right side

04. The Dead Weather - Hang You From The Heavens

I like to grab you by the hair and sell you off to the devil
I never know what mood to be
Be mine, be kind but be cruel to me
I'm walking away now, one step forward and back three

05. The Stooges - I Wanna Be Your Dog

So messed up, I want you here
In my room, I want you here
Now we're gonna be face to face
And I lay right down in my favorite place

06. Lady GaGa - Teeth

Don’t be scared
I’ve done this before
Show me your teeth

07. Momus - I Want You, But I Don't Need You

I love you, and I love how you love how I love you
But I don't need you, don't need you to need me to love you
If your love changed into hate, would my love had been a mistake?
I don't know. I don't know.

08. Stars - Violent

You finish me
And now I know that this is how love's supposed to be
I tortured you
And in return you tortured me

09. Xx - Crystalised

You don't move slow
Taking steps in my directions
The sound resounds, echo
Does it lessen your affection
No

10. Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds - Stranger Than Kindness

You caress yourself
And grind my soft cold bones below
Your map of desire
Burned in your flesh
Even a fool can come

11. Mercury Rev - Blue And Black

I need pink
I need green
I need someone
Whose soul's obscene

12. Portishead - Elysium

And it's your heart
That's so wrong

13. Unkle - Ablivion

So far gone I won't ever stop
I'll let you go and watch you drop
So far gone I can't hold a grip
Another hit and watch us slip

Aw, goodness, thank you! I probably take longer than necessary when compiling fanmixes, but every song has to fit and I'm always pleased with how they turn out. Can't do anything by half measures, I suppose. You're very welcome! ♥

Thank you! Their interactions in the tavern scene intrigued and amused me to no end, especially when she tells him Archie's her date. The way his face fell spoke volumes (not to mention that the only times he exclaims "Wunderbar!" are because of her). In the script, his insults to her were even more personal and sexual in nature. They just seem so obvious a pairing to me aside from my shipping Bridget with everyone.

Ooo, I see. I actually enjoyed his character in general. A small(ish) role, but I found him intriguing.

Do you have a link to the script? You've made me curious!

I've been a fan of August's for a little over ten years, and Hellstrom is one of his most gleefully reprehensible characters he's played (usually, it seems, he plays angsty and self-destructive). The tavern scene is where he really shines for me, because his acting is both outrageous and subtle, with the way he looks at Bridget and the contempt he has for Archie.

Here's a link to the script: http://www.imsdb.com/scripts/Inglourious-Basterds.html

I like it for all the changes Quentin made to certain scenes and characters. I primarily tracked it down after all his raving over Daniel and Melanie and their chemistry. He pretty much cut down Marcel's role and threw him out the window because of it. Overall, it seems, Tarantino allowed for the actors to show more than tell their characters.
