Another Shosanna/Fredrick fanmix. Also, graphics!
This one is most definitely my favorite, as I went with more atmospheric/mood choices. The songs in this mix, of course, pertain to Shosanna/Fredrick, as well as their individual perspectives.
Special thanks to [livejournal.com profile] nickytheapache, because our Sho/Fred discussions have been wonderfully inspiring ♥

Shosanna Dreyfus/Fredrick Zoller

Shosanna Dreyfus/Fredrick Zoller

La Petite Fille De La Mer
Vangelis

Instrumental

Just A Man
Faith No More

Man was born to love
Though often he has sought
Like Icarus, to fly too high
And far too lonely than he ought
To kiss the sun of east and west
And hold the world at his behest
To hold the terrible power
To whom only gods are blessed
But me, I am just a man

Invisible Sun
The Police

And they're only going to change this place by
Killing everybody in the human race
And they would kill me for a cigarette
But I don't even wanna die just yet

My Secret Friend
Iamx ft. Imogen Heap

In your skin
To die a little death
This time there's no code word
When everyday frays in hollow ends
Dream sweet love submersive

Audrey's Prayer
Angelo Badalamenti & David Lynch

Instrumental

More
The Sisters Of Mercy

Do you get scared to feel so much?
To let somebody touch you?
So hot, so cold, so far so out of control
Hard to come by, and harder to hold

Souvenirs d'Un Autre Monde
Alcest
lyrics in French lyrics in English

N'aie crainte, à présent tout est fini
Laisse couler tes larmes une dernière fois
Pour à jamais en être libéré
Et rejoins le monde d'où tu viens

If I Had A Heart
Fever Ray

This will never end
'Cause I want more
More, give me more, give me more

Just Like Honey
The Jesus and Mary Chain

Listen to the girl
As she takes on half the world
Moving up and so alive
In her honey dripping beehive

Exit

And when there's nowhere else to run
Is there room for one more son
These changes ain't changing me
The gold-hearted boy I used to be

We Carry On
Portishead

Holding on to my heart
I bleed the taste of life

Le Grande Secret
Indochine ft. Melissa Auf der Maur
lyrics in French lyrics in English

Mais si un jour
On pouvait s’en aller
On pourrait bien enfin s’emmener
Mais si un jour on pouvait
Se quitter
On pourrait bien enfin
Se retrouver

Resistance

It could be wrong, could be wrong
But it should've been right
It could be wrong, could be wrong
Let our hearts ignite

Or have something more to gain
I could feel myself growing colder
I could feel myself under your face
Under your face

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
All These Things That I've Done is SO perfect, I agree. I have only listened to about 3quarters of the mix so far, because I am very picky about atmosphere when listening to things like this, and the only time I was able to give myself to music this weekend was on a car ride. That song was SO powerful in the middle of the mix - I've NEVER gotten that many chills while listening to that song. Basically every lyric in that song was written for Fredrick. I'm so glad you agree!

I also VERY much loved "Le Grand Secret"! The duet was so fitting - very beautiful.

I'm glad I gave you a little something in return! I will be on the lookout for more lyrics for SURE, because music is so essential in my life, and now that these two have eaten my brain... Hehe. I'll definitely be downloading your other fanmixes as soon as I get my iTunes working again - it's all messed up.

Oh my GOSH, I know that sobbing! That's the classic "me" sob! The "obnoxious, scrunch-faced, hand-over-mouth sobbing" is like my life story when it comes to crying.

I can't wait to hear Into Dust. I will definitely be listening in class tomorrow! Ooh, I also enjoyed "Just A Man" - very very Freddy. I didn't quite catch all the lyrics the first time, though.

I really do enjoy it! It's wunderbar!
Ooh, I have indeed seen that but never that large! MERCI!! I want to buy a poster of that, actually, for $25 off eBay..

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
Thank you ♥

I wanted to make a header with that quote (from Twin Peaks), but it wouldn't have matched all of the neon, so I went hunting for a couple hours to find the right layout.

Audrey and Dale of Twin Peaks were another great couple that never was (well, Sho/Fred were by the end), which still frustrates fans to this day.

Well, bravo! Because the new layout is positively lovely! I applaud you! :D Good hunting!

Ah, I must see this in daylight, as I cannot find my headphones right now! Thank you for the video.

Oh no, not another tragic love story!

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
I really am thankful that you recommended All These Things That I've Done, as it helped with the final details of the fanmix. And of course, every single line of it applies perfectly to Fredrick and the film. He and Shosanna are really the most important characters in the film, as none of its events would have been possible if it weren't for Fredrick.

I love Le Grand Secret so much! It has this beautiful mood and longing to it, and is made even better by the heartbeats that open and close the song.

I already have a couple songs lined up for yet another fanmix for them (22-20s' Shoot Your Gun and A Whisper by Coldplay), and I am definitely open to more suggestions. Music and film are both (and really, all creative outlets) important to me as well, so combining the two like this extremely enjoyable for me.

There are certain films and books that make me sob like that, so if I ever watch/read them with others, I always make certain to warn them.

Into Dust was a suggestion from [livejournal.com profile] piecesofalice some time ago, as she and I are constantly keeping an ear out for songs. Mazzy Star makes for excellent Shosanna themes; I previously used their other well-known song Fade Into You on my Shosanna fanmix (which was really Sho/Fred, as they're inseparable). She used it one of her Sho/Fred fanmixes, so I'll recommend it you: Mumford and Sons - White Blank Page. According to my itunes, I've listened to Just A Man way too many times, but Mike Patton is a genius and pioneer of alternative music; the things he's capable of vocally are amazing.

There are these these two as well, if you've not seen them.

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
Ahh, so true! They are the heart and soul of it. I'm so glad you got it the way I did. I knew you would!

Yes! I can't wait to listen to that one again. Perhaps I will make a video to it? I just downloaded IB off my DVD copy and I am planning to make a ton of videos. I don't know if that's your thing, but if I do, hopefully you can enjoy them!

YES! ANOTHER FANMIX?
I am so excited! Oooh, Coldplay!
I will definitely try and think of some suggestions and let you know! (:

YES. Music and film are like, my greatest loves. The combination is the best. Which is why I love creating fan videos.

Yes! I'm like that with The Outsiders, too.

I'm excited to listen to Into Dust!
I shall listen to Mumford & Sons when I will not disturb the silent atmosphere of the house!

Ah, thank you for those! Again, I have seen both but never so big! Merci! :)

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
If I couldn't grasp that, I'd be like others who either project all of the Bride's qualities (a complete bad-ass instead of a traumatized survivor) onto Shosanna, or I'd be a Marcel fan. And that would be sad.

I love well-made fan videos, so whatever you make, I'd love to see!

Oh, yes, another one! Even after the fandom dies (film fandoms never quite last), I'll still be going with fanmixes and fic.

Out of modern directors, Tarantino and Michael Mann are my favorites because they use music to enhance the scene, rather than using it as background noise.

Aside from Watchmen, there's this book, Friend by Diana Henstell. You're put through so much and at the very end, everything is succinctly summed in one line, and that one line reduced me to tears. There was a film adaptation in the '80s, Deadly Friend, which wasn't an entire success, but the music and the acting is still able to move me. All of the Charles Bernstein music I use for the fanmixes is from the soundtrack.

They're both beautiful songs and are so perfect, as each works from the perspectives of Shosanna and Fredrick.

You're welcome! I've been fiddling with them on cafepress as I'd like to make posters/prints of them at some point.

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
Oh Gosh, I'm SO thankful you're not a Marcel fan...

Hooray! I will make some, and hopefully not disappoint! Mine aren't anything fancy, but I think I get my point across! I lost my old ones, though, on an old hard drive, so I'm starting fresh with a new fandom! Yippee.

YES. God Bless you! What would I do without you feeding my obsession!? I bow at your feet, master. Hehe.

Ah, another book I must look into! There's so many!

OMG POSTERS. I WANT THEM AS POSTERS. :)

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
I couldn't see how I could be, or how anyone could. Besides the fact that he undermined her before finally getting his shit together by the end, but he's like the husband in Kill Bill. Sure, we see the Bride has moved on (though not entirely), and he's a nice guy, but that's it; the real investment the viewer has is in Bill and the Bride. Also, Daniel was so amazing that QT threw Marcel out the window, pretty much.

I'd love to see your fanvids when you make them, and don't worry about fancy, as simplicity works just as well. Sometimes, you just have to let the subject do the talking.

Aw, you don't need to bow. Your enthusiasm and feedback are enough ♥

I know how that is! I'm researching for a personal project, so I have a pile of books and films I've been going through, along with recommendations for books and films from others. One day I'll get to them.

I will see what I can do with them but POSTERS WOULD BE AWESOME.

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
Yeah! Marcel was a nice guy, and he pulled through in the end, but I felt no chemistry between the pair. It was as if they were together only because they had both been involved with Le Gamaar and since Shosanna arrived at Le Gamaar she hadn't allowed anyone in besides Madame Mimieux or Marcel. Haha, yeah, Marcel was thrown right out the window for sure.

I agree, I suppose! Like I explained in my other reply to you, I'm having trouble with getting IB onto my movie maker, but hopefully I will some point tonight and I can start making them!

♥ Bowing is sometimes necessary for such great work, hehe.

POSTERS TOTALLY WOULD BE AWESOME. HOPEFULLY YOU CAN MAKE YOURSELF SOME.

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
YES. That is exactly it! As I've discussed with others, Shosanna (much like the Bride) was trying to settle in some kind of normalcy, some kind of stability. But no matter what she did with her life from that point on, she would not, could not change her past and who she was. Even Melanie stated that Fredrick made Shosanna realize that; that after meeting Fredrick, she became obsessed with vengeance. Everything she tried so hard to bury and forget came to the surface, and as we see by the end, he also made her realize that there could have been a life for her outside of the theater, that she could and did feel something for someone else. It's like what Quentin had said, that Fredrick had been unintentionally hurting her just by being the sweet boy that he was; he was completely overwhelming her with her own emotions.
So basically: Shosanna was settling because there was nothing else for her at that point, and so she thought she could live the rest of her life in a boring routine with mental and physical barriers between herself and the world. Then Fredrick came along and ruined it ♥

Hopefully you get it all settled soon! I'm finally getting Purple Butterfly to cooperate, at least.

♥ Bowing is sometimes necessary for such great work, hehe.
Aw. Okay then, if you insist.

THEY TOTALLY WOULD. I used to have a cafepress shop (t-shirt designs). One day I'll re-open it, and if I can make some fantastic posters out of those pictures, I'll have to include them.

Re: You are an absolute genius. "Je dit, 'bravo!'"
YES, all of that. Wonderful. It makes so much sense, I love it.

Then Fredrick came along and ruined it ♥
Hehehe, gotta love him for that!

I WANT A SHO/FRED T-SHIRT AND POSTER. AND ALL KINDS OF FANGIRLY MECHANDISE. TEAM FREDRICK!! TEAM LOLMARCEL IS THE NEW JACOB, PROBABLY.
